Email services offer massive amounts of storage these days: so much that we no longer need to worry too much about deleting photos to make room for new emails. While this is convenient, it also makes it easy for your email account to turn into the equivalent of a messy attic: photos inside often disappear out of sight and out of mind.
Lost Photos is an app that’s designed to help you sift through the junk to find photos that you might want to see again.
The process is quite simple: all you have to do is log into the app using your email account’s username and password. Supported services include Gmail, Yahoo, Mac, AOL, and more (Hotmail isn’t supported). The app uses the credentials for a one-time login, and does not store the info or transmit it to any outside server.
Once you log in, the app searches through your entire history of emails in search of photographs, displaying the images that are found:
Once the search is complete, you’re shown the long-lost photos in a simple slideshow, and are given the opportunity to save them to your computer or share them through social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
