Models are undoubtedly beautiful people, but with all the airbrushing, buffing, lighting, and re-shaping capabilities Photoshop offers we often question the reality of the photos of models we see in magazines. Advertising agency Victors & Spoils reminds us of just how much Photoshop can manipulate reality with its multimedia holiday greeting card:
Photoshop gurus at Victors & Spoils started with the image of the beautiful, golden-haired model and tacked on a few pounds.
After swapping her healthy tan out with a more pasty skin tone, the photo editors added a few wrinkles and some puffy cheeks to age the model.
They added some glasses, white hair, a beard with a jolly smile, and some body hair to match–and magically Old St. Nick appeared, ready for Christmas the beach!
The “Body Evolution” video that inspired this holiday greeting was created in 2011 by Global Democracy to bring awareness to the negative affects body manipulation in magazine ads could have on young girls. In case you missed it, here’s the original video:
