New Techart EF-to-Z Adapter Lets You Use Canon Lenses on Nikon Cameras with Full AF and Stabilization

Techart has pulled off something pretty cool with its latest lens adapter. The so-called “Canon EF to Nikon Z Autofocus Adapter” (TZC-01) lets you use Canon EF glass on Nikon’s mirrorless Z-Series cameras without sacrificing autofocus, auto exposure, aperture control, or lens stabilization.

The Techart TZC-01 claims to offer a no-compromises experience: letting Nikon Z-Series owners use EF-mount glass from Canon, Sigma, Tamron, Tokina and Zeiss while retaining “native” autofocus performance, aperture control, lens stabilization, EXIF data, and more. You can even use Nikon’s Face and Eye Detection AF.

There’s also a built-in function button, which allows you to save and recall a specific focus distance by pressing and holding the silver button for two seconds.

You can see the adapter in action in this comprehensive test by YouTuber Richard Wong:

Of course, not all EF lenses will perform equally well, but many of the most popular lenses are already compatible. According to Techart, the TZC-01 adapter “currently supports most of the Canon, Sigma, Tamron, Tokina and Zeiss lenses with EF mount including some legendary glass like Canon 16-35mm L, 24-70mm L, 70-200mm L, Sigma Art series, Canon Tilt/Shift glasses, Tamron zoom lenses, etc.”

Additionally, the lens comes with a “complimentary lens dock” for firmware upgrades, so you can stay up to date as more lenses are added; although, comically, it does not include the required microUSB cable to connect the doc to your Mac or PC.

Nitpicking aside, the ability to use EF glass on Z-Series cameras vastly increases the lens options for Nikon full-frame mirrorless shooters, and you won’t hear us complaining about that.

The Techart Canon EF to Nikon Z Autofocus Adapter is available today from the Techart Pro website, where it’ll cost you $ 250—the same price as the company’s Sony E to Nikon Z adapter released last yer. To find out more about the adapter or order your own, click here.
