When it comes to sharpening an image, more than likely, your technique involves using a certain method over the entire image all at once. However, that’s rarely the best way to do it, because how much and where to sharpen varies quite a bit depending on what you’re shooting.
Fortunately for us, Photoshop wiz Michael Woloszynowicz is back again with another useful technique that will help you improve your sharpening skills and account for things like texture and edges.
The technique he uses does make use of a several components and steps that can seem overwhelming if you’re not a big retoucher. And so, for those who don’t want to learn the step-by-step, Woloszynowicz was kind enough to provide a downloadable action that will automate the process. This action and technique will work on Photoshop CS3 and above, so unless you’re REALLY far behind, you should be good to go.
Check out the video above to see how it’s done, and if you’d like to watch more of his tutorials, you can browse through our previous coverage of his work or head on over to his YouTube channel and gather even more bite-sized pieces of post-processing knowledge.
